Job Description for SEN Class Teacher

As a Special Educational Needs (SEN) class teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to students with complex needs. The ideal candidate will have the skills and expertise to plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the diverse learning requirements of all pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans that meet the complex SEMH needs of all pupils.
  • Support the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours among students.
  • Monitor and report on pupils' progress, liaising with other staff to ensure pupils' needs are met.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips.

Requirements:

  • Hold qualified teacher status (QTS).
  • Have a strong basic education to degree level.
  • Previous successful teaching experience, particularly in working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Experience of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and adapt.
