The Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. Developed in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force, it is the first military combat aircraft to be designed, manufactured and assembled in Australia in 50 years.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead safety assessments and hazard analyses for aerospace systems and components.
  • Develop and implement safety requirements and safety management plans.
  • Collaborate with design, systems engineering, and airworthiness team to ensure safety is integrated into all phases of product development.
  • Lead, plan and conduct safety reviews and provide guidance on safety-related issues.
  • Analyse safety data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and present safety documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers in safety engineering practices and methodologies.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering Aerospace, Avionics, or Mechatronics, that satisfies the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust)
  • Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated experience in Systems Safety engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of safety engineering principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Experience with safety assessment techniques (FHA, FMEA, FTA, STPA).
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards (e.g. MIL-STD-882E, ARP4754, ARP4761).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with aircraft avionics, software and UAV systems (essential).
  • Experience with aerospace and / or Defence projects (highly regarded).
