Rural Community Support Specialist

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate counsellor to deliver outreach services to rural communities affected by prolonged drought. As an outreach counsellor, you will provide support and guidance to farmers and their families experiencing stress and mental health challenges related to the drought.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver trauma-informed counselling interventions to individuals and families experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges
- Provide crisis support to individuals in acute distress and facilitate referrals to emergency services when necessary
- Engage with and maintain trust-based relationships with farmers, local leaders, and community groups
- Collaborate with local stakeholders to understand community needs and priorities
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Peer Work, Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or other health-related field
- Experience in delivering mental health support in rural or agricultural settings is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practices, mental health recovery, and care coordination
