Our organization is seeking a compassionate and skilled Intake Counselor to join our team.

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center provides a supportive environment for individuals seeking rehabilitation. Our program focuses on developing life skills and fostering a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities:

  • Aware of and in agreement with The Salvation Army's Christian spiritual approach to rehabilitation.
  • Work cooperatively with all staff, beneficiaries, and outside agencies.
  • Develop and maintain a network of outside referral sources.
  • Interview, assess, and process necessary paperwork for applicants.
  • Ensure the house tracking system is maintained and updated daily and weekly.
  • Assist other program staff in crisis intervention as needed.
  • Meet with supervisor for supervision and evaluation.
  • Coordinate with outside groups to bring speakers and information that model Christian values of recovery.
  • Record statistical information specific to your area of responsibility.
  • Carry a caseload of approximately 20 individuals.
  • Engage in pastoral counseling sessions, offering prayer and appropriate insights from the Bible.
  • Conduct education classes and/or groups per week as assigned.
  • Operate compliance screen for prohibited substances equipment.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and all meetings as requested by the Administrator(s).
  • Attend retreats, conferences, and other Salvation Army events as scheduled and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • AA/BA degree in related counseling field preferred.
  • Previous residential and rehabilitation experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including the ability to use email, and various web-based and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to include evenings and occasional weekend time.
  • Able to understand, communicate, and teach Biblical Christian beliefs that are in alignment with Salvation Army church doctrines.
