Inventory Optimization Specialist Job Description

The Inventory Coordinator plays a vital role in maintaining optimal stock levels, ensuring inventory accuracy, and supporting efficient product flow throughout the supply chain.

This position is critical to minimize waste, prevent out-of-stocks, and maintain compliance with food safety standards. Key responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining accurate inventory levels, performing regular cycle counts, investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies, coordinating with procurement and warehouse teams, and tracking and reporting on inventory KPIs.

Additionally, the successful candidate will assist with stocktakes, prepare audit-ready inventory reports, and identify opportunities to optimize inventory processes and reduce waste or overstocking.

To be successful in this role, you will require experience in inventory control, stock coordination, or warehouse operations, preferably in FMCG or food & beverage. You will also need knowledge of inventory software/ERP systems, strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, and an understanding of FIFO, FEFO, and batch tracking methodologies.

  • Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels across warehouses, production areas, and distribution sites
  • Perform regular cycle counts and reconcile physical inventory with ERP/system records
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or expired stock
  • Coordinate with procurement, production, and warehouse teams to ensure timely stock replenishment
  • Track and report on inventory KPIs (e.g., stock turnover, shrinkage, expiry)
  • Support inbound and outbound logistics by managing inventory movements and stock allocation
  • Maintain accurate records for traceability, especially for perishable goods and batch-controlled items
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP)
