Job Overview

A leader in sustainable transport technology solutions is needed to drive innovative projects and foster client relationships.

This senior role involves delivering high-quality transport technology solutions, managing projects, and contributing to strategic business goals.

  • Lead and manage Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and traffic engineering design projects.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality, timeframes are met, and budgets are aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Develop infrastructure designs from tender/concept through to detailed construction by working with teams to develop engineering solutions and document these.
  • Manage subcontractors, quality assurance, and client communication.
  • Undertake systems engineering assessments and strategic planning for transport technology.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated designs.
  • Provide technical advice, leadership, and mentorship to team members.
  • Build industry networks and maintain effective client relationships.
  • Promote best-value solutions and innovation while ensuring health and safety compliance.
Qualifications & Expertise
  • Relevant engineering degree with Chartered status (or equivalent); post-graduate qualifications are advantageous.
  • 7+ years' experience in ITS, Communications Design, Traffic Engineering, or related fields within consultancy or construction.
  • Expertise in developing and assessing transport technology systems.
  • Hands-on design and implementation of ITS solutions.
  • Beneficial knowledge of civil engineering and electrical design practices for real-world applications.
  • Ability to see the big picture and assess project feasibility and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Strong project management experience to work through the hands-on design expertise needed in delivering solutions.
Technical Capabilities
  • Design Tools: Proficiency with MicroStation, Visio, AutoCAD, GIS, and civil interface tools would be advantageous.
  • Coding & Data Tools: Ability to leverage coding, data analytics, automation, and GIS to build support tools for the team.
  • Innovation & Emerging Technology: Familiarity with new technologies and innovative approaches in transport engineering.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Ability to work autonomously while maintaining strong collaboration with the team and leadership.
  • Provide technical advice, guidance, and mentorship to team members.
  • Build tools and processes to enhance team efficiency and innovation.
Key Skills
  • Electrical Engineering Registration: Highly advantageous for the role.
  • Experience in designing and implementing emerging technologies and innovative solutions.
  • Strong focus on data analytics and technical problem-solving.
  • Excellent teamwork, leadership, and ability to guide teams through complex projects.
