Program Producer

The Program Producer role is a key component in delivering high-impact public engagement activities that promote the University's mission. The primary responsibility involves producing the Island of Ideas public talks series and supporting major community engagement events across Tasmania.

The ideal candidate will possess strong stakeholder engagement, event design and programming, communications, marketing, and production skills. Collaboration with internal and external experts and partners is essential in developing content that ignites conversations and curiosity within our community aligned with the University's mission and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to research, curate, promote, and produce the Island of Ideas public talks series.
  • Project manage public engagement events, coordinating logistics, technical production, and communications in partnership with relevant teams.
  • Develop and coordinate relationships with existing and new stakeholders, including partner organizations, businesses, the community sector, and government departments.
  • Provide project and event management support for in-person, online, and hybrid engagement events, liaising with internal and external suppliers, and producing technical run sheets and event briefing notes.
Requirements:
  • A degree with relevant professional experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education in communications and engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain successful relationships with stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and deliver outcomes on time and within scope.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across a geographically dispersed team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently liaise with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to act independently using initiative, judgment, and discretion.
  • Digital literacy, including proficiency in contemporary computer-based systems, design software, communication platforms, and administrative systems.
