Job Title

Staff Specialist in General Medicine and Geriatric Medicine at NSW Health.

Description

This is a permanent part-time position providing expert medical assessment and management of patients within the department. The specialist will work closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, communicating effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff. The primary location of this position may be varied as agreed with the Director of Medical Services and as approved by MDAAC to other facilities in SESLHD.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality clinical service, including expert medical assessment and management of patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff, demonstrating professionalism and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Support and participate in teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate students and other hospital staff.
  • Engage in quality improvement activities and research aligned to the Department's needs.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent specialist recognition.
  • Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices.
  • Proven capacity to provide high-quality clinical service.
  • Commitment to teaching with experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, ability to work collaboratively, and effective communication skills.
