About the RoleThe ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Traffic Signals, with a focus on installation, maintenance, and inspection of assets and equipment.
This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills. As a Traffic Signal Installation Technician, you will be responsible for performing works on ITS assets and Traffic Signals in line with legislative and customer contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, and inspect ITS assets and Traffic Signals, including Variable Message Signs (VMS), Hazard warning signs (AWS, VSLS), and other highway electrical systems.
- Electrical Testing: Conduct electrical testing of ITS assets and Traffic Signals to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Equipment Preparation: Prepare equipment prior to final installation, ensuring it meets specifications and is ready for commissioning.
- Commissioning: Commission ITS assets and Traffic Signals, ensuring they are functioning correctly and meet quality standards.
- Emergency Repairs: Participate in standby roster for emergency repairs and out-of-hours work, responding promptly to situations requiring immediate attention.
- New Installations: Perform new installations or modifications of ITS assets and Traffic Signals, working closely with customers and on-site contractors.
- Ongoing Training: Complete mandatory technical or safety training and engage in ongoing training for new equipment and systems, staying up-to-date with industry developments.
- Customer Coordination: Coordinate with customers and on-site contractors to ensure smooth project delivery and effective communication.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure work completion according to specifications, on time, and to high quality standards, adhering to Company Health and Safety Policy and identifying potential hazards.
- Vic Roads, Section 730 – Traffic Signal Installation qualification.
- Experience in traffic signal installation works.
- Minimum four years relevant field experience in the last six years.
- Knowledge of industry TS and ITS products.
- Traffic Signal Controller certification.
- SCATS knowledge.
- Full Driving License.
- AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules.
- VIC Electrical Licence.
- White card.
