Energy Transition Opportunities

Australia's energy system and market operator has a unique opportunity to co-design the future of our energy systems, guided by our core values of character, commitment, and connection.

We seek an experienced professional to lead the commissioning of various renewable projects through to full output operation, working closely with transmission and distribution network service providers across the National Electricity Market.

This role involves R2 model validation and driving the close-out process. It also requires strengthening technical collaboration with clients to resolve project issues constructively and providing expert advice on performance standard assessment, power system stability, and system strength remediation.

The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or other power systems discipline and extensive experience in commissioning renewable projects. They should be able to own and deliver small- to medium-sized projects, with a service-oriented approach to problem solving.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or other power systems discipline.
  • Extensive experience in commissioning renewable projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in R2 compliance requirements and R2 model validation.
  • Proven ability to own and proactively deliver small- to medium-sized projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the commissioning of various renewable projects through to full output operation.
  • Carry out R2 model validation and drive the R2 close-out.
  • Strengthen AEMO's technical collaboration with clients by ensuring that project issues are resolved constructively with tangible outcomes.
  • Provide expert technical advice and decision-making across performance standard assessment, power system stability, system strength remediation, registration, and commissioning.
  • Support regulatory changes to recognise and facilitate the integration of large-scale renewable energy projects into the Australian electricity market.
  • Develop a coordinated vision and framework for integrating generation and storage technologies into the NEM.
