About this role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Solutions Architect to join our WWSO Startup team in Australia. As a Database Solutions Architect, you will play a critical role in helping startups scale quickly and cost-effectively on AWS. Your expertise in database management systems, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, and data warehouse solutions, will be essential in driving the adoption of AWS' technologies and solutions.

Key responsibilities

As a Database Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with our startup customers to understand their database needs and develop solutions that meet their requirements.
  • Designing and implementing database architectures that are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.
  • Working closely with our technical teams to ensure seamless integration of database solutions with other AWS services.
  • Providing technical thought leadership and expertise to our startup customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Developing and deploying programs that leverage AWS Field Solution Architect teams, technology, and consulting partner channels.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 7+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and consulting on distributed applications.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing technical, customer-facing resources.
  • 5+ years of technical experience in database management systems, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, and data warehouse solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Preferred qualifications

We are also looking for candidates with:

  • Startup background and experience at a VC or PE-backed firm in a technical executive capacity.
  • Familiarity with open-source software used by startups and working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies common to startups.
  • Strong data-based storytelling skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with startup executives and developers.
  • Cloud expertise as demonstrated by one or more cloud certifications.
