Principal Business Financial Analyst

This is a key role within the Strategy & Business Case team responsible for developing and implementing strategies, analyzing market trends, securing funding, and fostering innovation.
The primary purpose of this role is to lead and oversee the financial analysis of strategic programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and maximizing stakeholder and customer value.
About the Role- Develop and manage financial models to deliver high-quality financial analyses and reports.
- Conduct cost, benefits, and financial analyses to prepare comprehensive reports on proposal affordability and funding implications.
- Provide consolidated financial reports to ensure consistency and compliance with relevant guidelines.
- Manage project deliverables and timelines to meet reporting obligations to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with finance and project teams to apply best practices and deliver measurable outcomes.
This role requires strong analytical skills, financial knowledge, and the ability to influence strategy through data-driven decisions.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a team of business analysts to deliver financial and cost analyses for business case submissions and funding proposals.
- Mentor and develop team capabilities, fostering continuous improvement, innovation, and a learning culture.
- Manage stakeholder relationships to ensure alignment with legislative, policy, and customer expectations.
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, or equivalent, including full CA or CPA accreditation.
- Extensive experience leading the development and analysis of complex financial models in government or large organizations.
- Strong financial knowledge and analytical skills, capable of interrogating large datasets to generate actionable insights.
- Excellent reporting, presentation, and communication skills.
