Job Summary:

Industrial Light & Magic is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lighting Technical Director to join our team. As a key member of our Visual Effects department, you will be responsible for producing high-quality lighting and rendering for complex shots in high-end photo-realistic visual effects films.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of lighting techniques, rendering systems, and visual effects software. You will work closely with our Lighting Supervisors, CG Supervisors, and other key creatives to develop the final look of our shots and ensure that they meet the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and create lighting and rendering solutions for complex shots
  • Collaborate with Lighting Supervisors and CG Supervisors to determine the best approach to solving CG challenges
  • Develop and implement efficient rendering set-ups to optimize render farm usage
  • Work closely with the Lighting Team to ensure that all shots meet the highest standards of quality
  • Mentor and guide junior artists in the Lighting/Look Development team
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics or equivalent experience
  • Advanced lighting and rendering experience in a VFX environment
  • Strong knowledge of Renderman and/or other unbiased rendering systems
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
