About the Opportunity

The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic and supportive psychology department, working with young people from 16 years and up with complex mental health issues on a mental health unit at South Western Sydney Local Health District.

They will have the opportunity to work with a well-established mental health service, and a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, consultant psychiatrists, psychiatric registrars, social workers, occupational therapists, and diversional therapists.

The Clinical Psychologist will be pivotal in conducting psychological assessments, presenting formulation to the treating team, and engaging the consumers in individual psychological interventions, contributing to the unit group program, and facilitating behavioural management support.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work autonomously, with support from the leadership team.

The Clinical Psychologist will also receive support, peer consultation, and supervision with other psychologists working in mental health.

Clinical Psychology Registrars will be considered for the role.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct specialist clinical, psychological, psychosocial, diagnostic assessments to tailor the delivery of psychological interventions.
  2. Provide consultation to the multidisciplinary team to address the needs of consumers who are living with complex mental health problems and disorders.
  3. Participate in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of services and assist in the development and provision of education and training programs.
  4. Supervise Psychologists and other disciplines working within the LHD according to organisational needs.
