Electrical Engineering Specialist

We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer with a strong foundation in protection studies and electrical design. This challenging opportunity allows you to play a critical role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of essential energy infrastructure.

Your primary responsibilities will include delivering expert electrical engineering support across high-voltage systems, leading protection studies and system design reviews, and supporting condition monitoring and equipment upgrades.

  • Deliver Expert Electrical Engineering Support: Ensure safe and efficient operation of key power generation assets by providing technical expertise across HV systems.
  • Lead Protection Studies: Contribute to detailed protection studies and system design reviews, applying your knowledge of electrical design principles.
  • Support Condition Monitoring: Scope and support condition monitoring, equipment overhauls, and capital upgrade projects to maintain the integrity of our energy infrastructure.
  • Apply Engineering Principles: Diagnose failures, assess equipment condition, and implement continuous improvements to optimize system performance.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver expert electrical engineering support across HV systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  2. Lead and contribute to detailed protection studies and system design reviews, applying your technical expertise.
  3. Scope and support condition monitoring, equipment overhauls, and capital upgrade projects, working closely with cross-functional teams.
  4. Apply engineering principles to diagnose failures, assess equipment condition, and implement continuous improvements, enhancing overall system performance.
  5. Support commissioning, technical supervision, and specification of electrical works, collaborating with operations and asset teams.
  6. Provide input into asset management strategies to extend equipment life at optimal cost, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Candidates must possess a degree-qualified Electrical or Mechatronics Engineer qualification, with 10+ years' experience in LV/HV systems and equipment. Chartered or working towards CPEng and relevant state-based registration is also required.

A strong improvement mindset and clear, confident communication skills are essential for this role. As a safety-focused individual, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment, adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Requirements
  • Degree-qualified Electrical or Mechatronics Engineer.
  • 10+ years' experience in LV/HV systems and equipment.
  • Strong foundation in protection studies and electrical design.
  • Chartered or working towards CPEng and relevant state-based registration.
