Job Summary

As a Senior Piping Designer at Bechtel, you will play a key role in planning, developing, and reviewing Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work. Your responsibilities will include producing 3D models, drawings, and documentation of piping and plant layout, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate design work within a small-size PD&P design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business units.
  • Produce 3D models, drawings, and documentation of piping and plant layout in accordance with established design practices and scope.
  • Ensure PD&P designs comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Coordinate and interface as directed with the day-to-day technical work of PD&P engineers, scientists, specialists, designers, and drafters, including those of other disciplines.
  • Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.
  • Facilitate technical discussions with third parties (clients, suppliers, regulators).
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of PD&P design estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manage implementation and performance accordingly.
  • Develop Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs), and administrative practices.
  • Mentor PD&P designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
Requirements
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Sound knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
  • Experience with multi-discipline interface management and global 3D model oversight.
  • Expertise in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
  • Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to design responsibilities.
  • Experience with Smart3D modeling of pipe and equipment in a multi-discipline, intelligent modeling environment.
  • Experience in design and drafting, including demonstrated expertise in a lead role or recognized courses in the directing of personnel.
