Job Description

As an adaptable policy advisor, you will join a small team responsible for capturing the voice of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for external stakeholders and ensuring a consistent narrative through policy oversight.

  • Coordinating, writing and reviewing briefs, reports, submissions and correspondence to ensure advice supports policies and commitments of the government.
  • Providing strategic thinking and coordination of written work to ensure CEO values are reflected.
  • Anticipating and addressing issues by providing quick and accurate advice to the CEO on complex matters to position the team as a trusted partner for the Prime Minister, Ministers, their staff and stakeholders.
  • Managing and fostering internal and external relationships, demonstrating the team's reliability and responsiveness.

This role requires previous experience within the federal government and in a similar position. You should also have:

  • Previous experience in coordinating strategic policy development and outcomes.
  • An interest in strategic thinking as your role involves examining written work from a holistic perspective to construct a narrative that captures the CEO's voice.
  • Highly developed communication skills both written and verbal to foster effective relationships with colleagues and a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills including the ability to handle multiple complex issues and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to be self-motivated, adapt to changing circumstances and operate flexibly under limited supervision.

To be considered for this role, you must be an Australian citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance at the Negative Vetting 1 level.
