Job Description

The role of a Genetic Improvement Specialist is to support the Technical Officer and production teams in achieving targeted genetic improvement rates across nucleus herds, GTCs, and external partner farms.

  • Manage and maintain our genetic program and associated data for internal and external parties, ensuring transparency and accuracy at all times.
  • Analyse datasets provided by internal genetic monitoring systems, effectively communicating insights to inform decision-making.
  • Assist with the selection of replacement boars and female pigs according to established standards and requirements, promoting consistency and efficiency in breeding programs.
  • Support the maintenance, management, data entry, and data collection across multiple systems used within the organisation, streamlining processes and enhancing data integrity.
  • This hands-on role involves monitoring and assisting with testing and sampling, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
