Legal Professional Role

This is a permanent, full-time position within the Department of Police and Emergency Management.

The successful applicant will undertake litigation on behalf of the department and provide legal services and support with particular emphasis on matters relating to family violence as part of the Safe at Home strategy for preventing, reducing, and responding to incidents of family violence in Tasmania.

Key Responsibilities

The Legal Professional will be responsible for providing critical legal advice to members of DPFEM and undertaking various challenging work experiences, including summary court advocacy.

  • Provide expert legal advice to members of DPFEM
  • Undertake varied and complex legal work, including court appearances

A high degree of personal satisfaction and a sense of achievement are expected outcomes of this role.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, applicants must:

  • Be admitted as a Barrister or a practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania under the provisions of the Legal Profession Act 2007
  • Hold more than 2 years relevant post-admission experience
