Senior Structural Engineering Specialist

Delivering results-driven solutions in the field of structural engineering requires a unique blend of technical expertise, creativity, and collaboration.

In this role, you will leverage your skills and experience to lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of civil/structural components and processes. You will work closely with clients to determine work scope and cost estimates for projects, ensuring that complex requirements are met.

• Plans and conducts independent Civil/Structural work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Civil/Structural engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on a medium-size project or assignment in support of a global business unit.
• Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs).
• Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries for the project to which assigned.
• Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering.
• Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements.
• Originates and checks complex Civil/Structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
• Develops conceptual designs for Civil/Structural engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.
• Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
• Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
• Mentors Civil/Structural engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
• Leads constructability reviews.

A bachelor's degree or international equivalent and 10-15 years of relevant experience are required for this position.

This role requires highly skilled and proficient individuals in the structural engineering discipline, with a full understanding of the area of specialization. The ideal candidate will be able to resolve complex issues creatively, designing a wide range of industrial structures, including buildings, material handling structures, equipment supporting structures, building and equipment foundations, retaining walls, and more.

The successful candidate will have experience with 3D design software, finite element analyses, dynamic analyses, advanced seismic parameters, and international codes and standards. They will also possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
