Group Facilitator Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Group Facilitator to join our team and facilitate groups within our MyTime Program in the Central, North Coast and Hunter Region.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people. They will also possess a strong understanding of issues facing parents of children with additional needs and have experience in delivering group interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare group sessions, incorporating strengths-based approaches and flexible methods that respond to local circumstances.
  • Facilitate group sessions, promoting informal discussion, structured topics, relaxation and recreation activities, and events.
  • Encourage group members to set agendas and utilize their own strengths to support each other.
  • Conduct post-group member follow-up, networking with local relevant services, and providing information about services, supports, and resources.
  • Data collection, reporting, and compliance requirements.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in a relevant area (e.g., family support, child development, social work, psychology, occupational therapy), or significant experience in facilitation and family support contexts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues facing parents of children with additional needs, preferably with lived experience.
  • Extensive experience in delivering group interventions.
  • Experience in online service delivery via group methods is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of community and services relevant to families and children.
  • Confidence in building relationships with local services and networking.
  • Working with Children Check verification letter required upon commencement.
  • Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate required upon commencement.
  • First Aid Certificate desirable.
