Program Officer/Policymaker Role

The Industry Policy and Quality Division

The Industry Policy and Quality Division (IPQD) is responsible for leading reforms to enhance the quality of the vocational education and training (VET) system. This includes developing strategic policy to support the quality and integrity of the VET sector, implementing revised Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), and delivering industry policy and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Program Officer/Policymaker, your responsibilities may include:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including program management teams and corporate areas, or industry stakeholders, peak bodies, and states and territories.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to deliver program management and support the delivery of work by industry partners.
  • Developing policy and advice and undertaking data analysis, reporting, and evaluation.
  • Developing an understanding of industry and stakeholder issues and drafting advice and briefings.
  • Providing analysis in relation to industry-developed work/project plans, workforce strategies, and strategic plans.
  • Developing communications and engagement activities and forums related to industry engagement and deliverables.
  • Supporting the implementation of reforms to strengthen the quality of training delivery.
  • Providing policy advice on cross-cutting issues across the broader VET system.
