About the RoleThe Multicultural Health Officer position contributes to the Multicultural Health Service and the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District's response to promoting equitable access to health services for CALD people with a focus on addressing identified health inequities through prevention and early intervention programs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement health education programs and messages consistent with NSW Health and ISLHD policies, procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
- Work with health service providers to ensure the health system is responsive to the needs of CALD and refugee communities and individuals through workforce development, training, and projects that address inequities in health service access and promote quality improvement.
- Collaborate with community groups and service providers to develop and implement programs that address health inequities and promote health equity.
- Provide health education and promotion services to CALD communities, including developing and delivering health education programs and materials.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote health equity and address health inequities.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Health Promotion, Education, Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, or other relevant health or behavioural science.
- Demonstrated superior skills and experience in group work, community development, and the provision of health education programs.
- Demonstrated experience in multicultural health from a community or service development context.
- A proven ability to develop, implement, and evaluate programs in a health-related field and with an array of consumer, community groups, and service providers.
- Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and to develop and sustain strategic partnerships.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing with consumers, community groups, and various levels of management. Proficiency in a community language.
- Ability to undertake flexible working hours, evenings, and weekends as required.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence, with the ability to travel in accordance with position responsibilities.
