Job Description

Naranga School is a government school in Melbourne providing education for students aged 5 to 18 with mild intellectual disabilities. Our core values focus on 'Learning for Life', aiming to prepare each student as an active contributor within the community.

We deliver an engaging developmental curriculum, ensuring personal success and progression within a supportive environment. Programs are designed to accommodate individual learning styles and needs of our students.

Integrated learning opportunities allow students to acquire knowledge and experience through interactive activities. Class sizes range from 6 to 14 students, reflecting individual needs and capacity for independence.

An Individual Education Plan is developed for each student in consultation with families and carers. The Victorian Curriculum framework guides our educational approach.

Senior students work towards transitioning into post-school options, including TAFE courses and SBAT programs. Student achievements are regularly celebrated at every level.

Families are encouraged to be involved in their child's academic learning program and broader school community. We collaborate with parents to host information sessions, Parent-Friends groups, fundraising events, open days, and sporting and musical events.

The school has received additional funding under Equity Reform to support individualized learning programs through smaller class groups, explicit instruction, and therapy services.

A team of experienced professionals work together to deliver these programs. A therapy dog provides individual and group support to students across the school.

This role supports the management of career support services, professional counselling, and advice for students regarding careers, courses, pathways, and vocations.

The successful candidate will have experience in delivering workplace programs, planning and implementing programs for learners with disabilities, and developing professional knowledge and experience in case management and course/career guidance.

They will also possess high-level communication skills with stakeholders, organisational and time management skills, and experience working with VASS and VCAA requirements.
