This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in healthcare as a passionate and experienced healthcare professional. You will lead infection prevention and control initiatives in a dynamic hospital environment, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of patients, staff, and community.
The role requires strong leadership and communication skills to build effective relationships across departments. You will provide regular updates and education to clinical staff and Medical Officers, and chair and coordinate the Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committees.
A key aspect of this role is conducting data collection, surveillance, and mandatory reporting to health authorities, responding to infectious outbreaks, and providing expert guidance. Additionally, you will audit compliance and recommend improvements for adherence to infection control standards, maintain and manage staff vaccination records, and administer vaccinations.
You will also be responsible for delivering infection control training and participating in staff orientation, supporting hospital accreditation, continuous quality improvement initiatives, and achievement of ACHS accreditation. This role requires collaboration with Department Managers on infection prevention and control matters, including KPI monitoring, policy development, auditing processes, and staff training and development.
To succeed in this role, you will need current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1), minimum 4 years of clinical nursing experience, relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in infection control, and immunisation Certificate (or working towards). Post Graduate Infection Prevention and Control qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
Required Skills and Qualifications:- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
- Minimum 4 years of clinical nursing experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in infection control
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to build effective relationships across departments
- Proficiency in report writing, data analysis, and auditing
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, set clear objectives, and develop actionable plans to meet organisational performance goals
- Knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards
- Immunisation Certificate (or working towards)
- Post Graduate Infection Prevention and Control qualification (or working towards)
