Coding Specialist Position

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Coding Specialist where you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely data collection, collation and management in line with hospital and legislative requirements.

You will be processing confidential data used for billing, morbidity collections, research, statistical analysis, management information systems, quality activities and casemix management including Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) allocation.

About the Role

As a Coding Specialist, you will report to the Manager of Health Information Services at Westmead Private Hospital to guarantee that all data collected is managed efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have essential qualifications:

  • Completion of Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) Clinical Coding Course, Associate Diploma or Bachelor of Applied Science, Medical Record Administration or Health Information Management; or similar relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Previous Private Hospital experience.
  • Demonstrated current experience in Clinical Coding including a minimum 3 years full-time equivalent hours (FTE) coding experience (post training) coding an advanced surgical casemix.
  • Commitment to professional development through quality activities, constructive feedback and mentoring.
  • Sound computer literacy and skills within the Microsoft Office Suite.
