The Royal Historical Society of Victoria is a vibrant community-driven organisation and the state's largest historical society dedicated to collecting preserving and promoting Victoria's rich diverse histories.

Reporting to the President the Executive Director will build upon the Society's strong foundation shape their strategic direction strengthen and forge new philanthropic relationships; and expand its visibility and impact in an evolving landscape.

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership management experience in not-for-profit membership-based or cultural organisations with a strong strategic thinking ability to set challenging achievable goals.

They will possess outstanding communication interpersonal skills to build partnerships raise organisational visibility as well as a sound understanding of digital technologies and their role in enhancing the stewardship accessibility engagement of historical collections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Direction: Develop implement a comprehensive strategic plan that aligns with the Society's mission vision.
  • Leadership Development: Foster a culture of innovation collaboration among staff volunteers driving growth excellence in all areas of the organisation.
  • Community Engagement: Build maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including members donors partners to promote the Society's work secure funding opportunities.
  • Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day management of the Society's operations ensuring effective use of resources optimal delivery of services.
Requirements
  • Proven leadership management experience in not-for-profit membership-based or cultural organisations.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to set challenging achievable goals.
