Online Shop Assistant RoleJob Description:

This is a key position in our retail team, responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations within the ecommerce department. The successful candidate will be working primarily with Australia Zoo's Online Shop, assisting with various tasks such as order processing, customer service and stock management.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Pack and dispatch orders received through the online shop or by phone
  • Coordinate with courier services to book collections and prepare items for shipment
  • Handle online returns, arranging replacements or refunds as necessary, and maintaining accurate records of returned or lost items
  • Monitor and adjust online stock levels using stock-control systems, ensuring efficient and effective stock management processes
  • Assist with product listings on the Big Commerce platform, including category management
  • Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the warehouse and workstation
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging retail trends, including online commerce
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, local businesses, and suppliers
  • Monitor online listings and provide recommendations to management on underperforming product lines and potential promotions
  • Support special online promotions and marketing initiatives, including photo shoots and promotional banners
  • Support general warehouse duties, including stock receipt and distribution as required
  • Collaborate with in-store staff to support Retail Stores as needed
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding missing or damaged items, or returns as required
  • Identify patron needs and respond proactively
Essential Skills:
  • Working knowledge of computer software programs, particularly online platforms
  • Ability to delegate tasks effectively and follow up to ensure completion
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills and knowledge of customer service principles
  • High-level decision-making and organisational skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in report preparation, including gross profit and stock control
  • Professional presentation at all times, setting a positive example
  • Experience with third-party logistics
  • Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and school holidays
