
Aboriginal Cultural Liaison Officer

Aboriginal Client Service Officers play a vital role in the Housing Contact Centre, providing culturally appropriate services and support to clients in regard to homelessness and housing needs. Working directly from one of our regional offices, you will be part of a team that makes a real difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
As an Aboriginal Enquiry Line Officer, your primary responsibility will be to manage the Aboriginal Enquiry line (AEL), which provides culturally sensitive responses to housing needs. You will work closely with other HCC staff to ensure that Aboriginal cultural concerns are given proper attention in determining service delivery to Aboriginal clients.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures and histories, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients. You will also require a high level of adaptability and flexibility, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Required Skills and Qualifications- A current NSW Working with Children Check clearance for paid employment;
- Possession of a current NSW Driver's Licence or NSW Photo Card;
- Documented verification of Aboriginality.
The Department will accept proof of Aboriginality confirming the following:
You are an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent;
You identify as being Aboriginal; and
An acceptable form of documented verification is a "Confirmation of Aboriginality" letter, provided to you by a local Aboriginal organisation that includes a common seal from that organisation.
