Category Manager - Commercial Growth

  • Job Description:

    Our Category Managers are key in driving the growth and innovation of each category within our Purchasing team. They take ownership of the category strategy, expanding the customer offering with an amazing range of high-quality products and a great user experience.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Identify commercial opportunities for category expansion, including sourcing and developing new products.
    • Engage and source key suppliers in World's best brand and Kogan.com Exclusive Brands.
    • Manage and engage with key stakeholders, internally and externally, to build effective working relationships and achieve outcomes in alignment with the category strategy.
    • Ensure the most efficient logistics, warehousing, and shipping options are chosen for each product.
    • Maximize profitability of all products through a depth of understanding of your category and the market.
    • Be proactive, innovative, and continually develop your category for our customers.
    • Actively negotiate the best possible trading terms and prices.
    • Drive and control promotional strategy and price changes across different sales channels and contribute towards pricing reviews when required.
    • Ensure timely sourcing and purchase of products and stock management, ensuring fulfillment of customer demand.
    • Actively manage and monitor inventory levels to achieve company goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Requirements:
    • University degree qualified in a relevant field, such as Commerce, Business, Entrepreneurship, Merchandising, Planning, e-commerce, or similar.
    • Experience as a Category Manager, preferably within an e-commerce, retail, or fast-moving consumer goods (FCMG) environment.
    • Comfortable building and maintaining effective relationships through exceptional communication and engagement.
    • Highly analytical and possess commercial nous, recognizing opportunity and making quick, impactful decisions for the best commercial outcomes.
    • Comfortable working within a fast-paced, dynamic environment, being agile, flexible, and adaptable is key to success.
    • A whiz with Microsoft Excel, applying VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
    • Technically savvy and able to use various IT and cloud-based tools to improve efficiency and productivity.
    • Apply logical thinking and think critically in interpreting data, leading to actionable insights to improve the best possible outcomes.
