As a renowned building science consulting firm, JRS Engineering seeks a highly skilled Senior Building Engineer to join our team in Victoria, BC.

This role presents a unique opportunity for a seasoned Senior Building Engineer to collaborate with a Senior Project Engineer on projects ranging from small to large, including wood frame to concrete high-rises and new construction to existing buildings.

You will play a vital role in advancing JRS' position as a leader in building science consulting on Vancouver Island, contributing to the company's success and growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments and investigations of building conditions and performance of envelope systems, including leak investigations, condensation analyses, and building envelope condition assessments.
  • Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Develop building envelope design solutions, including drafting design and construction documents for repair, renewal, and rehabilitation projects.
  • Review architectural drawings and specifications to provide building envelope design review services.
  • Perform and coordinate field reviews, investigations, risk assessments, contract administration, and quality assurance during all stages of consulting and construction projects.
  • General Responsibilities
  • Continuously expand your building science knowledge base and experience under the guidance of a Senior Project Engineer.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the scope of work and scope of services for each project.
  • Meet deadlines and manage multiple projects with varying priorities, complexities, and objectives.
  • Management Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with project management teams, ensuring timely completion of projects and effective communication with clients.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients to drive repeat business.
  • Participate in business development initiatives, developing proposals and engaging in client outreach.
Requirements:
  • EIT designation with EGBC and a Bachelor of Applied Science/Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of post-graduation experience, preferably in building science.
