We are seeking a Senior or Principal Consultant, Electrical to join our Rolling Stock team.

As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in organising and planning technical aspects of operational projects, including user requirement specifications, material and component specifications and safety in design requirements.

Ongoing remits on major projects include Cross River Rail, Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail and Auckland Light Rail.

You will contribute to the development of technical strategies for new technology and techniques applicable to electrical systems and networks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical guidance and expertise on rolling stock and/or light rail
  • Managing consultancy assignments, estimation, tendering, planning, execution and close out
  • Preparing responses to 'Requests for Tender' and other bidding opportunities
  • Developing client relationships and contributing to the development of the Vehicle Services team
  • Contributing to the company's Innovation program
  • Supporting the professional development of less experienced consultants

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering degree with experience in the rail industry
  • Competent in the design and manufacturing of rolling stock
  • Experience in rolling stock systems engineering
  • Experience in working in either a new-build or operational / service environment
  • Specialist knowledge of one or more rolling stock disciplines (e.g. traction systems, train control systems, etc.)
  • Continuous Professional Development willingness
  • Electrical aspects of brakes, structures, HVAC experience
  • Ability to cover most rolling stock sub-systems, including verification, assessment and standards associated with those sub-systems
