Resource Strategist

Senior Geologist roles are highly sought after in the mining industry due to their unique blend of technical expertise and leadership skills. As a Senior Resource Geologist, you will be responsible for leading a team of geologists and overseeing all aspects of mineral resource evaluation.

• Leads an expanding team of geologists, providing guidance on resource evaluation methodologies and ensuring quality control of all resource models.
• Audits clients' mineral resource (Kriging) models and generated Stratum models.
• Assists in auditing complex mine site databases composed of varied geological and geochemical data to evaluate critical issues.
• Collaborates with ML engineers and clients' mine planners and metallurgists to ensure optimisation of the models.
• Provides technical input to enhance sales teams' capabilities.
• Implements rigorous audit and quality control procedures for clients' data, new collection procedures, and resource models to ensure model accuracy and reliability.
• Ensures adherence to relevant mining regulations regarding resource reporting and disclosure.
• Prepares technical reports and presentations.

To excel as a Senior Resource Geologist, you should have:

• Tertiary qualification in Geology or Earth Science.
• Broad understanding of geological composition, structure, and geophysical attributes.
• Extensive experience in mineral resource evaluation (>20 years), working in both open pit and underground mining environments.
• Familiarity with geometallurgy and mineral resource estimation.
• Detailed knowledge of machine learning and data sciences applications in the mining industry.
• Proficiency in mineral source modelling software platforms and data analysis tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex concepts.
• Familiarity with mining regulations and reporting standards in Australia (JORC) and Canada (NI43-101).
• Leadership qualities to manage a growing team of geoscientists.
• An open motor vehicle driving licence.
• No criminal convictions that will restrict international travel.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
