Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead our on-site engineering function, ensuring timely and budget-friendly project completion and providing efficient support for construction activities.

  • Direct and manage on-site engineering functions through subordinates, including site engineers, project engineers and cost/planning resources.
  • Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications.
  • Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and materials, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions, and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary.
  • Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, program workloads, and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved.
  • Ensure that project engineering completion is on time and within budget. Record completed work, costs incurred, materials used, and retain progress drawings.
  • Produce accurate forecasts of costs and revenue.
  • Participate in planning future requirements, including machine tools, ancillary equipment, major plant, and labor.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Key Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience working on rail/highway/bridge projects in Australia.
  • 7-10+ years' total postgraduate experience, ideally in a tier one contractor setting.
  • Leadership ability to provide mentorship to direct reports, including project and site engineers.
  • Ideally, one experience as a Senior Project Engineer at minimum.
  • Demonstrated commercial experience, including planning and reporting on progress, cost, and risk.
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to health and safety.
