About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Public Relations Senior Account Manager to join our team in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years' experience in the Public Relations industry or in the Communications Department working with a strong corporate focus. They will have experience working on a portfolio of clients and playing the role of team representative to both clients and senior management.

The successful candidate will be able to lead multiple teams and work streams simultaneously, and will have impeccable communication and presentation skills.

They will also have experience and understanding of working with large multi-national consumer and corporate companies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and take an active interest in client's business to pre-empt issues and provide strategic counsel to clients.
  • Manage client meetings and account reviews to foster a strong and supportive relationship with clients.
  • Act as a client leader and maintain a clear and consistent communication channel between the client and the account team.
  • Oversee quality implementation for a group of accounts, keeping programs on time and within budget.
  • Maintain a strong rapport with journalists/bloggers and identify news angles and opportunities to meet their needs.
  • Develop, pitch and place positive stories by and about the client in appropriate business, trade and consumer media.
  • Oversee press events and take part in media trainings, including drafting scenarios and Q&A.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to junior team members to deliver quality execution of client programs.
  • Take an active interest in staff development and provide on-the-job training to team members on day-to-day account management.
  • Keep immediate supervisors briefed on team member performance, ensuring recognition of good performance and that any concerns are addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts. Present recommendations internally and follow through in presentation of new recommendations to client.
