About the Team and Role:

We are a dynamic team within Canva, dedicated to driving teams and collaboration through our industry-leading product. As we continue to scale, we're looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our engineering efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of motivated engineers to build, run, and analyze features across the Canva product.
  • Coaching engineers through regular feedback and helping them reach their personal growth goals.
  • Setting clear goals for the team and rallying them to execute on those objectives.
  • Maintaining a healthy environment for collaboration and promoting an open, pragmatic, and encouraging engineering culture.
  • Owning the team's development methodology and rituals, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Driving the team's technical strategy and roadmap in collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Writing and reviewing design documents, breaking down projects into milestones, and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, including UI/UX designers, content designers, product managers, and engineers, to meet the needs of the team.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Proven success in people and technical leadership.
  • Previous experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and first principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate problems and solutions.
  • Able to influence and work effectively across several internal teams, with diverse backgrounds, expertise, and professional/personal needs.
  • Measurement-oriented and have an experimentation mindset.
