The Safety and Compliance Advisor role is a critical position within our organization, reporting directly to the Senior Leadership team. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert guidance and support to all levels of the business on health and safety matters, including the coordination of Fit for Work activities and assessments, documentation, and training requirements.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing, amending, and developing, as necessary, our Manuals, Policies, and Procedures, including those on WHS, Workers Compensation, and Return to Work, Transport Safety Management System, Drug and Alcohol Programs, Safe Work Method Statements, and Driver and other related policies.
  • Closely engaging with our employees and management team to ensure a proactive and committed approach to health and safety across our national operations.
  • Overseeing the coordination of Fit for Work activities, including daily breath testing and random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Organizing and delivering relevant WHS induction and training.
  • Assisting in conducting risk assessments and investigations of workplace accidents and incidents, and developing effective solutions to improve safety outcomes.
  • Coordinating RTW cases for work-related injuries, ensuring compliance and employee well-being during rehabilitation.
  • Conducting weekly toolbox meetings.
  • Administration tasks and record-keeping.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in safety and compliance with a minimum Certificate IV in WHS.
  • Previous experience in the bus/coach or transport industry is an advantage.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of current WHS Act and WHS regulations.
  • Applied knowledge of relevant rehabilitation and safety legislation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • The ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Enthusiastic and organized approach to work, with a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work autonomously.
