Job Summary

DataMesh is a leading provider of innovative payment solutions, and we are seeking a highly skilled Head of Engineering to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of our organization and driving the development of our products.

About the Role

The Head of Engineering will be responsible for leading our engineering team, providing strategic direction, and ensuring the successful delivery of our projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and design, to drive the development of our products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership
    • Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to the engineering team.
    • Build and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
    • Develop and mentor team members, ensuring their professional growth and job satisfaction.
  • Product Development
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the development of our products and services.
    • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
    • Evaluate and choose appropriate technologies to support the company's product roadmap.
    • Ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of the technology stack.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues and deliver solutions to complex problems.
  • Process Optimisation
    • Implement and optimise engineering processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and agility within the engineering team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely across all divisions to understand business needs and align engineering efforts.
    • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Resource Management
    • Manage the engineers, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
    • Part of the decision-making on recruiting, team expansion, and 3rd party vendor engagement to support scaling.
    • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Work closely with relevant divisions ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and security practices.

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in a variety of programming languages, with a strong foundation in at least one major language.
  • In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and associated services.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tools for continuous integration and delivery.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.

Leadership and Management

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in building, developing, and managing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Strategic Thinking

  • Proven ability to align engineering strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Experience in creating and executing technology roadmaps to support company goals.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends.
  • Willingness to embrace change and lead the team through periods of transition.

Budget Management

  • Experience in managing departmental budgets and resource allocation.
