Student Wellbeing and Mental Health Manager

The Student Wellbeing and Mental Health Manager is a pivotal role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of students within an educational institution. This position oversees the student wellbeing and mental health services provided to students, manages a team of wellbeing officers and counsellors, and collaborates with other departments to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

This role involves developing and implementing student wellbeing strategies and programs, driving cultural change through positive relationships and networks, providing authoritative information and advice on mental health, structuring the operations of the wellbeing teams, managing budgets, and working with stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives.

  • Develop and manage the implementation of student wellbeing strategies and programs through a team of qualified wellbeing officers and counsellors.
  • Drive cultural change by developing positive relationships and networks within and external to the institution.
  • Provide authoritative information, advice and direction to stakeholders on mental health matters.
  • Structure the operations of the wellbeing teams to support the achievement of organisational objectives and report as required on the outcomes of agreed targets.

Key Requirements

To be successful, you'll have:

  • Post-graduate qualifications in psychology, counselling or a related mental health discipline.
  • Registration with a relevant professional association such as AHPRA or AASW.
  • A strong background in delivering professional wellbeing and mental health support, particularly within student settings, and a deep understanding of the mental health challenges commonly faced by students.
  • Demonstrated success in leading wellbeing initiatives and student counselling programs, with a proven ability to implement and manage change effectively.
  • The ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritise under pressure, and meet ongoing deadlines.

Benefits

This role offers a salary range of $104,883 - $114,252 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience). The position is based at a campus location with onsite parking and close proximity to public transport.
