About the Role

McMahon Services, a leading Australian construction and industrial services company, is seeking a highly skilled Bid Manager/Senior Estimator to join its Pre-Contracts team in the Engineering and Projects customer stream.

This key role will involve leading and managing bid teams, developing win strategies, and executing tenders for medium to large-scale multi-discipline turnkey projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction management, quantity surveying, or a related field, and experience in leading successful bids and tenders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Pre-Contracts Manager in the overall performance of the pre-contracts team
  • Lead and manage bid teams, estimators, engineers, and other team members
  • Develop and execute tenders to ensure they are developed to a consistently high standard
  • Interpret bid/tender requirements and develop successful strategies
  • Develop or review tender pricing
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to obtain information required to compile the bid
  • Assess and address technical and commercial risks relating to ongoing bids
  • Oversee the team during the bid process, ensuring internal deadlines are met and bids are submitted on time
  • Contribute to the assessment and selection of suitable tenders
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Business, or Finance
  • Experience in construction-only, design and construct, or engineering, procurement, and construction delivery models
  • Experience in the water, industrial, materials handling, oil and gas, marine, and food and beverage sectors is desired
  • Proven experience leading successful bids and tenders using best practices approaches
  • Experience in negotiation and a sound understanding of contract management and cost optimization
  • Ability to identify and manage commercial, financial, and technical risks and opportunities
  • Government and Defence bid/tendering experience is desirable
  • High degree of attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
