Tuckshop Assistant

Role Overview:

The Tuckshop Assistant plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the tuckshop. This position requires an individual with excellent communication skills, strong motivation, and team-building abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve lunch and snack items to a high standard.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the work area.
• Ensure that ingredients and equipment are at the correct temperature to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses.
• Stock merchandise counters and displays prior to service and restock as necessary during service hours.
• Clean and sanitize sandwich bars and utensils at the end of each day's trade.

Service Standards:

• Provide courteous and consistent service to all customers, including teachers, administration staff, and students.
• Communicate effectively with all people related to the facility.

Functional Requirements:

• Familiarize yourself with menu items prior to service.
• Serve customers efficiently and maintain correct portion control.
• Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and respond promptly to customer complaints or issues.
• Monitor and maintain sufficient levels of menu items throughout the day's service times.
• Adhere to correct holding temperatures and monitor inventory levels throughout the day.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist with functions and events as directed by the Food Services Manager.
• Menu planning and coordination as specified by the Food Services Manager.
• High-quality food presentation and plating.
• Supervise and coordinate kitchen or service areas as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
• Basic math skills and accuracy with handling cash transactions.
• Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices.
