About this Role:

This is a full-time position commencing Term 4, 2025.

As the Department Head - English, you will play a pivotal role in the administrative team, working closely with senior leaders to provide strategic leadership within the school.

You will provide guidance and support to English teachers, ensuring they stay informed on relevant curriculum issues and innovations, and model best practices as a leader.

The successful applicant should demonstrate the ability to motivate and inspire staff, build capacity and cohesion, and promote a positive learning environment for staff and students.

Our Future Leaders program at Governor Stirling Senior High School drives the quality of our leaders and aspirant leaders, embedding a mentor program along with regular sessions focusing on improving key leadership skills and traits.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership in diverse educational settings.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Apply professional knowledge to ensure high levels of educational outcomes for all students.
  • Manage staff, resources, and budgets effectively.
Requirements:
  • Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or valid visa with relevant work rights.
  • Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
  • Working With Children Check.
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit.
