The role requires strong communication and stakeholder management skills, as well as the ability to provide expert advice and support on environmental matters.

This position offers a chance to make a meaningful contribution to the development of sustainable infrastructure projects that benefit the community.

About the Project:

Inland Rail connects Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. The 1,700km fast freight backbone completes our national freight network. We are working on the Beveridge to Albury (B2A) portion of the program, which involves approximately 305kms of existing northeast rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury.

B2A is staged in two tranches and requires careful planning and execution to minimize environmental impacts. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality results while respecting regulatory requirements and community expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Implement and monitor the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and contractual obligations.

  3. Provide expert advice and support regarding environmental practices, controls, and mitigation measures.
  4. Liaise with regulatory authorities, local councils, and other stakeholders as required to maintain compliance and resolve environmental matters.
  5. Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including reports, permits, and environmental records.
  6. Contribute to the development and delivery of training and awareness programs to promote environmental responsibility.
  7. Drive continuous improvement in environmental outcomes by identifying and implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation, standards, and best practices in the construction or infrastructure sector.
  • Proven experience in an environmental advisory role on large-scale infrastructure, rail, or civil projects.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve environmental risks in a practical, proactive manner.
