About the Position:
As a Professional Psychologist, you have the opportunity to start your career in the Northern Territory, an exciting mix of tropical and desert landscapes, with world-leading national parks and diverse wildlife.
This position presents an opportunity to experience parts of Australia that many people never see, while at the same time, doing work that is impactful and interesting. A relocation package is available for the successful candidate looking to move interstate for the position.
The Work For Intern Psychologists In Darwin Is Varied And Provides A Strong Base In Working With People With A Range Of Underlying Developmental And Mental Health Related Issues.
Our Darwin Team Complete A Range Of Assessments With Diverse Client Populations Including Early Childhood Developmental Assessment, FASD Assessment, ASD Assessment, Psychosocial Assessment, Behavioural Assessment, Parenting Capacity Assessment (Often Inclusive Of Mental Health Assessment), Dementia Assessment, Forensic Assessment.
The Use Of Assessments Relating To Learning Difficulties, Executive Functioning, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Etc. Are Also Utilised As Appropriate.
Psychological Intervention, Therapy And Behaviour Support Services Are Provided Using A Diverse Range Of Modalities Inclusive Of Individual, Family Based And Service System Interventions.
Our Client Groups Are Diverse, And While Largely Funded Through NDIS And Territory Families, Are Inclusive Of A Wide Range Of Presentations Stemming From Developmental Trauma, Developmental Disability, Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Traumatic Brain Injury, And Mental Health Issues.
While Our Office Base And Primary Work Is In Darwin, We Also Offer A Range Of Opportunities To Work Regionally (E.g. Katherine, Alice Springs) And Within Remote Indigenous Communities.
What You Will Do:
- Conduct assessments and provide psychological interventions to clients with developmental disabilities, mental health issues, or experiences of trauma;
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's needs;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients;
- Provide ongoing supervision and support to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge;
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continually refine services and outcomes;
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices and research in the field.
What You Need To Succeed:
- Masters of Professional Psychology and eligibility for AHPRA registration;
- Experience working with individuals with complex needs, including those with intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, or experiences of trauma;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and colleagues;
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve shared goals;
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing client needs and priorities;
- Current and valid driver's license, working with children check, and NDIS worker screening.
