Job Title: System Operations Specialist

The role of the System Operations Specialist is to guarantee that all customer systems operate continuously, 24/7, to meet business requirements and ensure compliance with relevant performance indicators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage batches, backups, interfaces, system processes, and associated processing.
  • Assist in optimising business processes to improve efficiency and stability.
  • Periodically review and update existing operations and IT support processes to ensure their ongoing appropriateness.
  • Ensure all agreed Service Level Agreements with stakeholders are met.
  • Liaise with business owners and report to the IT Operations Team Leader on all aspects of managing daily batches, system processing, and other associated processing as needed.
  • Assist in automating and improving operational tasks and activities.
  • Guarantee that the workload automation toolset (Control-M) functions as expected, with all scheduled daily activities completed correctly, and act on all applicable alerts and notifications when they occur.
  • Provide input and expert guidance on non-standard operational related activities, including release management, new operation schedules, planned and unplanned outages, and general operational activities.
  • Ensure that all system and environmental alarms have been addressed in accordance with relevant support staff and processes.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling planned outages and rescheduling activities in the event of unplanned outages.
  • Participate in the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of appropriate Disaster Recovery and Business Continuance Plans for critical systems.
  • Investigate and gather information as required to assist in resolving incidents and/or problems.
  • Maintain confidentiality, security, and integrity regarding the information being processed, stored, or accessed.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or substantial practical work experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in complex Systems/Operational environments in a 24/7/365 scenario.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of all storage components, including hardware and software.
  • Previous intermediate operational experience with Control-M, Linux, SAP, CRM, Oracle, Elastic, Logstash, Kibana, and Cherwell (ticketing management system).
  • BASIC understanding of Networking concepts, LAN, WAN, and TCP/IP.

  • Experience in supporting business-critical systems on a 24/7/365 basis.
  • Update documentation and creation using a centralised system, i.e., SharePoint.
  • Expert problem solver, able to manage multiple priorities and processes.
