About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Network Engineer to join our team at John Holland. As a key member of our IT team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our local and wide area networks, firewalls, and security policies across our corporate and project offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a detailed understanding of our corporate and project network requirements and ensure these are maintained
  • Assess and evaluate risk and understand the implications of new technologies
  • Engage with clients and end users to ensure service delivery expectations are defined and met
  • Liaise directly with stakeholders from within the business and external vendors
  • Actively provide input into system design and team design
  • Troubleshoot problems, issues / faults and liaise with providers to resolve them. Understand the business issues and direct team members to drive these to a resolution
  • Design and implement new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Define processes and policies to install, configure and support network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAPs, firewalls, SDWAN, DNS and DHCP
  • Work with a range of network design including VLAN's, SDWAN, Wireless and MPLS
  • Understanding of AWS resources such as VPC, Route53, Transit Gateway, ELB/ALB etc.
  • Understanding of any Secure Web Gateway functionality and solution
  • Monitor network performance and ensure the team is delivering the best possible outcomes
  • Define processes and policies to procure network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
  • Maximise network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Arrange scheduled upgrades
  • Work with the IT Team in the management, installation and testing of new technology
  • Ensure detailed environment (corporate and project) documentation are updated accordingly
  • Assist with mobilisation and decommission of project offices in the region
  • Liaise with project and IT staff during the establishment of new services
  • Liaise directly with stakeholders from within the business and external vendor(s) when necessary
  • Manage time in a manner to ensure all tasks are completed within specified time frames Operate within ITIL service management processes including incident, problem and change management
About You

We are looking for a talented IT Network Engineer with a relevant qualification in computing and substantial experience in a dedicated Network Engineering role within a large and complex environment. You will have strong project delivery, troubleshooting and analytical skills in Routing, Switching, and Firewall, utilising multiple vendor technologies, as well as demonstrable in-depth knowledge and experience in:

  • Network Design and its implementation, including experience in undertaking security risk assessment analysis of critical IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Cisco or Aruba routing and switching
  • Managing Firewalls security policies and VPN (Palo Alto)
  • Managing and implementing SDWAN technology (HPE Silverpeak)
  • AWS Cloud Networking and Secure Web Gateway (Zscaler)

You will enjoy working collaboratively and be able to foster effective strategic relationships with people at all levels both internally and externally. Your ability to provide a great user experience and deliver IT support aligned to the business requirements will see you succeed in the role
