Job Title: Operational Director of Medical Services

NSW Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operational Director of Medical Services to join our team at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and Eastern Sector.

About the Role

The Operational Director of Medical Services will be responsible for leading and supporting a medical workforce of over 300 senior and junior medical officers. This role requires a strong clinical leadership and management background, with experience in medical administration, medical workforce, medical ethics, clinical teaching, and leadership and change management.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of designing and leading change initiatives to enhance the delivery of care in a public health setting. They will also have excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise and consult with all levels of the health industry, the community, and various professional groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support a medical workforce of over 300 senior and junior medical officers
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the delivery of medical services
  • Manage health financial, activity, and reporting systems
  • Develop and implement clinical governance, clinical risk management, and continuous quality improvement management strategies
  • Design and lead change initiatives to enhance the delivery of care in a public health setting
Requirements
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA) or other appropriate specialist recognition
  • Postgraduate qualifications with substantial experience as a DMS in a large base or referral hospital
  • Proven ability to lead clinical leadership and management at an executive/senior level
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
