The Royal Australian Navy is the largest defence force in Australia, founded on values of service, courage, respect, integrity and excellence.

It was one of the biggest navies post-World War Two.

In addition to international operations, the Navy helps with disaster relief and supports peacekeeping and humanitarian missions globally.

In Western Australia, the Navy is based at HMAS Stirling on Garden Island.

HMAS Stirling houses Collins class submarines and ANZAC Class Frigates and provides administrative, training, communications, and logistical support to personnel and vessels there.

This work experience program offers a broad insight into various Navy trades and associated career options within the Royal Australian Navy.

Participants will be involved in presentations, demonstrations and practical activities hosted by Navy personnel.

These may include team-building exercises, visits to Navy simulators, exposure to Navy trades and demonstrations of vehicles and equipment specific to different units.

Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to speak with Navy personnel from diverse areas to gain information about their roles, careers and experiences in Defence.

Job Requirements:

  • Presentation, demonstration and practical activity hosting skills.
  • Team building and visit management skills.
  • Exposure to Navy trades and vehicle/equipment demonstrations.
  • Mentoring skills for various Navy personnel.
