Key Job Title: Biometrician Specialist

About the Role

This role plays a pivotal part in advancing our ability to measure novel traits in field and controlled environments by implementing current best practices and proposing targeted research to develop new statistical analytical approaches within the plant phenotyping environment.

The Australian Plant Phenomics Network is looking for an experienced biometrician to lead proposal modifications and improvements for deployment across the network based on trends in phenotyping biometrics research. You will provide high-level statistical support to APPN projects, including experimental designs, statistical modelling of plant phenotyping data, and preparing figures and reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership in the statistical research and consulting activities of the central office
  • Lead the development of innovative statistical methodologies and tools for plant phenotyping analytics
  • Review opportunities for multi-dimensional statistical analytics, including links to climate and environmental data
Requirements

As a highly skilled leader in biometry and statistical analysis, you will be responsible for delivering impact for the Australian research and agricultural community. You must have proven skills in the application of biometry/statistics, demonstrated experience in using R software packages to analyse longitudinal data, and high-level interpersonal skills in working as a member of a multi-disciplinary research team that includes plant scientists.

  • Proven track record of publication record that includes statistical methodology and application papers
  • Demonstrated ability to promote organisational values and commitment to positively comply with behaviour expectations
  • Experience in managing either a team or multi-party program of work
