About the role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Channel Services team. As a technology leader, you will provide leadership, coaching, and support to multiple engineering squads, ensuring they balance technology, delivery, and outcomes in alignment with Coles' objectives.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Managing multiple squads of technologists to deliver projects and products aligned with Coles' business objectives.
  • Providing clear business requirements that translate into actionable items of work for the squads.
  • Coaching and supporting squads in agile methodologies and continuous improvements.
  • Planning, creating, and executing delivery roadmaps based on actual business requirements.
  • Implementing systems of work for squads, including agile ceremonies.
  • Coordinating dependencies and sequencing Epics and Stories to ensure teams can consistently deliver value in small increments.
  • Ensuring quality and supporting management of incidents and escalations.
  • Defining and implementing SLAs for different components and services.

About you and your skills

We are looking for someone with:

  • At least 3 years' experience leading highly skilled backend engineering teams and delivering large programs of work.
  • At least 7 years' experience in product development teams.
  • Deep experience in high-performance teams, with coaching to success using agile methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working in complex system architectures, operations, and support structures.
  • Experience delivering outcomes as part of a cross-functional group, using onshore/offshore delivery models and with 3rd party vendors and integrators.
